Talent release forms

Here are the two talent release forms we have created and filled out, these will provide confirmation on the performers being in our music video. The creation of these are important as they will give us security when filming someone. It will prevent a performer from asking us to delete or remove pieces which will contain that performer; this will stop the chances of us deleting any section of our piece which could result in incompletion as well as huge problems of scouting new talent.

Locations

Here are a range of different location shots of which we will be using in our final music video. These include: Creams café, dance studio and Kingston.
We had decided on these locations as we believe that they all will bring something to our music video. The dance studio allows us plenty of space and a space which was designed for performance as well as allowing us to decorate it in any way that we wish. The Creams café due to the vintage theme which we would like o express through out our video. Kingston was decided because it has a busy atmosphere and wide spaces as well as having great variety of lighting.
We decided on these locations as they were applicable to our target audience, they will be familiar with the young creams café as well as the high street and some may be into dance and appreciate the dance studio and the decorations we will add to it; which will ensure that the target audience can relate and that it best fits in with our pop genre.

Photo Shoot Plan

This above is a photo shoot schedule shows which shows you the details of when we plan to take photos for our digipak. The schedule was put into place to ensure that the group were organised and no problems would occur when under pressure due to time, this ensured that our time was planned out so that we could get the shoots finished and everyone should be there on time.
The schedule shows when, what, where and who will be needed during the photos, this includes the equipment needed which can change from each photo as in some of them we do not need the Tripod.

CD Cover designs

Here adjacent on the left, is two of our ideas for the images which will be demonstrated on the Digi pack, the CD packaging. These images will be displaced in and outside of the packaging, this will include the front, back, behind the CD as well as other inserts inside the packaging. We will be using only six different images, these will be decided as a group so that we get the best images for our Digi pack. After some time deliberating we have all agreed on using all six of images from these two idea sheets.

On the left is the other idea sheets that our group created which helped on deciding. Without these we wouldn't have known which ideas were available to us as well as the ideas which we ended up choosing seem more appealing due to these.

The image above is the idea sheet which we created which includes all six images from the two at the top. These images we all thought would fit well in the genre as well as the image for our artist. It is colourful and fun but at the same time serious and meaningful. With these images we thought that they fitted in better than the other images from the remaining idea sheets, but they also helped us agree which ones we would use.

Advert Planning

This first design to the left is by far the best and most popular out of all of the others as it includes all the encouraging aspects from them all which sets it apart. The position of the artist fit well in with our genre as she looks provocative which will fit in with the sex symbol convention in this genre. The costume, use of a vintage patterned skirt and top adds to our 1950's vintage theme. This design follows some of the conventions which will ensure that due to that as well as the image of the artist, this design will be the one that we use for our final product.

This design on the right, shows the artist in a long shot. The artist take up the whole frame due to the use of the mirror image; this mirrors the image of the artist from the centre, we found this effective as it stresses the importance of the artist and is the primary optical area on the poster. This design follows conventions as it includes the artists name, artist image, album name, record label, song featured on the album and a review of the album. The colour scheme of this design is very soft but vibrant at the same time which gives a welcoming but fun vibe to the advert.

This design on the left demonstrates straight away that the artist is very glamorous and vintage; this is all gained through the use of props, costume and the positioning of the artist. The props and costume used show that she is glamorous as only rich people and people with high statuses would wear and use these props. The props added with the dress make the artist look very mature, reserved and deflated. This is the opposite to what we wanted our artist to look like, we want our artist to look young, fun and full of energy which is bursting out of her. this advert also doesn't follow all of the conventions of a advert as there is no review or record label displayed.
This final design shows the artist in full frame but looks like in a fragile state which doesn't fit well in with our desired appearance, the cramped up position doesn't show power, individuality and a fun vibe. This design follows all of the conventions apart from a release date. The colour scheme of this advert is great as it follows the use from the digipak, this is a excellent idea as it ensures that the audience doesn't get confused and make sure that the audience see the resemblance with all of Ava's products and can see a clear image of her.

Below are some posters of which we will use in the bedroom, these are great for this as with the black background, they fit well in the room which has pink wallpaper as well as looking well looked after and inspiration for the artist. This would be true as our artist will have a pin-up style to her which will add to our vintage theme.

As we are going to show the bedroom shots, we also thought that we would show the make-up and the artist getting ready to go out, this will connect with the female audience with close ups and reflection shots. From using these shots of the make-up, it shows that she is normal and that she wants to look great in front of the boy that she likes, this will also connect with most people as many people have went to extra effort getting ready to impress someone.

Location Permissions

Record Label Permission

Below is a letter which we will send off to Syco Entertainment, within this letter it asks them for permission for us to use the song from Cher Lloyd as well as creating a music video for it. The letter starts off by explaining what and why we are creating a music video, then moves on to say we have discussed this song in detail and finishes with what the song means to us as well as asking for permission again.

Costume Ideas

In this short clip above, the performers demonstrate the different costumes that we are planning to use. This may change later if we don't believe that these costumes fit well into our chosen genre, the conventions of a pop music video, as well as fitting in with our music video ideas. Through using this method of actually wearing the customers and getting different angles of them, rather than just taking a photo of the clothes, it helps us see how the costumes look while on the performer/artist. This will help us visualise what they will look like when in the music video and in the location planned out. After viewing the costumes from this clip, we have all agreed on making the costumes more vibrant and colourful which will mean that more pink costumes will be preferred to fit better in with our genre and follow conventions.

Shooting Schedule

Here is our Shooting Schedule which shows our final plan of the date/time, shot number (this is gained from the creation of our storyboards) location, actions, crew, equipment and any notes needed for the shot. From adding this amount of information it allows all the member to prepare correctly for the days work needed to be done, this will increase our chances of making sure that the video is complete and all of the shots are completed on that day. When creating it we all had to make sure that all of the days targets were acceptable as well as achievable because otherwise this could severely ruin our chances of getting all of the shots and work done and can have a knock on affect on the rest of the work needed for the final product; this would include the time left for post production.
The Shooting Schedule will allow us to follow the plan we created and stick to it, this will ensure that we can get all of our shots filmed in the time provided. This helps us know which shots to film and where and when we will need to turn up at the location for filming, this will ensure that there are no misinformed members in our group as we will all know where and when to arrive at the location.

Animatic

The video clip above shows our animatic, this will show a collection of images which we as a group believe the music video will include and be created like using this as a template. From creating this we all now have an idea of what the finished product will look like. In this task we had to think of ideas to include in our music video and draw them out as well as explaining what is happening during the shot, from this we had then taken photos of all of the images and inputted them on the computer; through using IMovie software we have created our animatic by ensuring that all the timings are at the same amount of which we will use for the real final product. This animatic demonstrates what the video will look like before creating it; from doing this it has helped make our ideas of the music video much clearer and has lead us to more creative and original ideas.

In the moving images above, it demonstrates all of our created shots and descriptions; these were the images which we used to create the animatic. As you can see from our performer holding them up, it shows the amount of different shots which we will use as well as showing which order the shots we will placed in our final piece.

Concept

This illustration shows how we could use one of our locations, dance studio, for the performance shots. We all believe that this location would be perfect for the performance shots due to it being very plain; this will allow us to create whatever atmosphere and look we decide on. It also has a variety of different lighting features with different colours which already gives us options for our video, with the lighting we can make the normally dark space very light and have high key lighting to make it conventional for a pop music video. It also caters for us in the way that it is a large clear space which we can develop so that it fits in with our genre better; we have decided on filling the room with many pink and white balloons to ensure that it has an effect; this will make our video look very fun and happy as well as friendly, fitting in with our genre.

Costumes

The images below are the three main ideas that we have come up with for costumes, we have decided on these ideas as they are colourful and bold which will help with the artist image and make her stand out; these costumes are fitting in with our old fashioned, 1950's idea.

We ended up with these costume ideas due to that they needed to be bright to fit in with the conventions of our genre as well as being a little provocative to fit well in with that women are seen as a sex symbol in pop due to them flaunting themselves to sell their music and bring in their audience. The look which doesn't seem to take too long to create and spent mass amounts of effort putting together the pieces which our audience doesn't like, but instead look like they had thrown the dress on and look great.

Possible location - All Star Lanes, Bowling alley

As a group, we all decided to use the All Star Lanes as a location for our pop music video. We decided on this due to the great retro look as well as it fitting in with our chosen genre, due to us wanting to make the video have a retro look but at the same time fit in with our youthful theme; this does this perfectly as it is somewhere that the young audience can relate to and recognise as they go to bowling alleys and hang out there to have a fun time with their friends, this is a superb location choice due to it fitting in with all of these different factors as well as our genre of being fun and exciting. We believe that we can create some great shots here as there is not only just the bowling lanes but also gives the ability where we can film in an on site dinning area which would allow us to add a more relaxed vibe to the video, while also keeping to the spying theme where the following of the performer will take place, we can play on the artists interest into the male performer by having a tracking shot of the artist using an over the shoulder shot to follow the performer and artist at the same time as well as using a point of view shot, showing the interest of the artist in the performer. During this part of the video, the ideas that we have thought of is that the artist puts a message in one of the bowling balls to the male performer, but one of his friends or someone else picks it up.

Music video ideas testing

As a group we all went out to create an experimental planning video which would test some of our ideas in reality to see if they where as affective as we first thought and also fit well in our genre; this helped us decided whether or not to keep or remove certain parts and ideas that we first had. The first idea of which we had thought of was that the male performer, George, would pose in pictures with another girl (polaroid paper) which would show that the performer was liked by the girls and that every wants him, this will include our artist. The artist will therefore try to get the attention of this boy and this will mean sneaking around spying on him, which is our concept, due to her wishing that she could be with him, the reason for spying is because she doesn't feel that she is good enough for him and there is always a crowd of girls around wanting him. For this shot we will use a tracking shot which will be following the artist while keeping the performer in the background, this will show what the artist is doing as well as showing her interest in him, this shot will follow into a over the shoulder shot. Another shot which we will use in this location is a point of view shot (POV) which will give the impression that we are looking through the artists eyes. In order to do this we will use the fig rig to get a smooth action while filming, the type of shot that we would like to do is demonstrated in the video above; this shot will take place in the bowling alley or in London as these are the best locations for this shot.
The other idea that we demonstrated in the video above is the use of performance. In the clip above we show how the dancers will have a set routine and perform with a great facial expression, in order to show the fun and excitement of the pop genre. The performance will mainly take part in the dance studio but also may take place in the house or bedroom as this will fit in with the genre better as this looks more conventional.
Finally, we also tried the use of slow motion at the end which will show the performer and artist to have a sexy vibe which is very convention in the pop genre as most of the female artist becoming a sex symbol.
